There are many volunteering opportunities offered by MediCinema such as assisting with fundraising, helping at events and of course supporting our screening programmes.
If you are looking for an activity that brings immediate benefit and pleasure to patients, one that helps them escape the tedium of the ward, then volunteering at our film screenings might be for you.
We have a dedicated team of volunteers who assist at each screening and who are primarily responsible for the transfer of patients to and from the MediCinema and the hospital wards*.
The role of the volunteer at the screenings is vital: without them, quite simply, many of the patients – especially those in beds and wheelchairs – wouldn't be able to make it to the cinema.
Being a MediCinema volunteer is extremely rewarding. By bringing some 'Big Screen Therapy' to patients who might otherwise be spending yet another evening on the ward, you help add some much needed magic to their stay in hospital.

*Only volunteers who have been fully cleared – that is, have completed the application procedure and have been issued with an Honorary Contract by the Trust – are allowed to assist in patient transfers. Those who have submitted applications but are not yet fully cleared are welcome to assist at the screenings in non-patient transfer activities - there is always something can be done.
