ICAP MEDICINEMA AT GUY’S HOSPITAL LONDON

Thanks to a most generous donation from ICAP, a MediCinema is now being planned for Guy’s Hospital.

MEDICINEMA AT ST. THOMAS' HOSPITAL LONDON

The first MediCinema opened at St Thomas’ Hospital in London in time for the new Millennium.  Patients of all ages, including those in beds and wheelchairs, can enjoy big screen therapy twice a week. We also screen Saturday Matinees.

The all-encompassing environment of MediCinema includes surround sound, tiered seating, a big screen and a 35mm projector, operated by professional cinema projectionists.

Patients coming to a MediCinema screening have to be signed off to attend by the hospital staff and can be joined by their carers or families to enjoy current releases, or sometimes previews, and to be away from the reality of hospital life.

We have a professional cinema manager responsible for all health and safety issues who visits the wards to publicise the screenings and a large pool of trained volunteers who bring the patients from the wards to the cinema.  Medical supervision is provided by two nurses on duty throughout each screening and admission is free.

Cinema Manager: Carola von Deym.
