School partnership raises £20k for MediCinema

This summer saw the conclusion of an amazing year-long partnership with the community at Knightsbridge School, London, which raised over £20,000 for MediCinema.
Each year the staff and students nominate a ‘Charity of the Year’ giving them an annual fundraising focus. In September 2024, MediCinema were lucky to be chosen as the beneficiaries of the community’s fundraising efforts after we were nominated by a member of staff whose loved-one had benefitted from our service during a stay in hospital.
One of our school community members had personally witnessed the incredible impact of the work that MediCinema does and nominated it to be considered as the Knightsbridge School charity for 2024/2025. The children were introduced to around seven other worthy charities, but after learning about MediCinema, they were unanimous in their decision to choose it as our School Charity. They were truly inspired by its story and deeply moved by the difference it makes in the lives of children and adults in hospital. The children recognised just how meaningful and transformative its support can be.

Over the course of the school year, teachers, students, their friends and families came together in an incredible effort to raise vital funds for our charity.
From school discos, movie nights, hot chocolate and lemonade sales, a silent auction and generous donations for tickets to attend red carpet events, including the Moana 2 and F1 premieres, the school community went above and beyond for our cause.
The school’s student council were welcomed to our MediCinema at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital to meet the team and find out more about our service. The MediCinema fundraising team were also invited into the school to talk to the children about the charity and the impact we have for NHS patients across the UK.
We want to extend a huge thank you to the staff, students, and parents of Knightsbridge School for choosing to partner with MediCinema this year, and for raising such an incredible amount of money for us. The school community have really taken time to understand the stories of our patients and the impact that film can make to a person feeling isolated and unwell in hospital. They have championed our mission, and this has been felt across the charity and reflects in the total raised. Their hard work will enable us to keep providing moments of joy, comfort and escape to children, adults and their families in hospitals around the UK, through the MediCinema cinema experience and community.
