Summer of Cinema Campaign: Giving Unmissable Movie Moments to Patients
If you’re a movie fan, then you’ll understand the impact that watching the latest blockbuster in a cinema could have for someone stuck in hospital.
That’s why our latest fundraising campaign appeals to film fans to ask for their help in giving unmissable movie moments to patients when they need it most.
Small Donation; Big Impact
This summer we’re asking everyone who enjoys cinema to pay their experience forward by donating from just £8, the average price of a cinema ticket*.
This small donation could contribute towards a visit for a patient to one of our MediCinemas providing moments of joy, connection and respite away from the ward and clinical environment.
Every year we support tens of thousands of patients and their families in our nine fully accessible cinemas built in the heart of hospitals and places of care across the UK. Showing the latest films, MediCinema gives precious time with friends and family, away from the challenges and clinical confines of a hospital ward.
At no cost to the NHS, it is your generous donations that help us to make a real difference.
A Vital Connection to the World
Thirteen-year-old Baxter is a huge film fan – who has visited a MediCinema many times. He also manages complex health issues which prevent him from visiting his local high street cinema.
A recent 11-week stay in hospital resulted in the need for pioneering surgery. During this difficult time, MediCinema offered Baxter a vital connection to his passion and to the outside world.
MediCinema has opened up a whole world to Baxter, that he couldn’t really access before, and he’s loving it. For a couple of hours, we can escape and not think about the hard stuff.

We believe nobody should miss out on the magic of cinema this summer. Whatever blockbuster is on your watch list, cinema-goers will relate to the anticipation of watching on the big screen and our hope is that, by donating the average price of a cinema ticket, they will help to pass that experience on to patients and their families at a time when they need it most.
