MediCinema and BFI London Film Festival Bring Exclusive Festival Screenings to Hospital Patients
MediCinema is delighted to announce that once again, we will be partnering with the 70th BFI London Film Festival, to bring some of the Festival’s most anticipated headline films to patients at MediCinema sites across the UK.
The collaboration brings the excitement one of the world’s leading film festivals directly into hospitals, giving patients access to highly anticipated new films that audiences are only just beginning to discover. Among the titles are Ink, Ray Gunn, our first LFF screening for children and young people, and the Festival Gala’s closing film, The Debut. Â
Â
Escape Through CinemaÂ
At the heart of MediCinema’s work is the belief that everyone deserves the chance to enjoy the magic of cinema, regardless of their circumstances. By transforming hospital spaces into state-of-the-art, fully accessible cinemas, MediCinema helps patients experience a sense of normality, connection and escape from the challenges of illness and clinical treatment.Â
By bringing the BFI London Film Festival to our hospital cinemas, we can offer patients an exclusive opportunity usually reserved for festival audiences. As they take their seats alongside family members, carers and fellow patients, they will be among the first people in the UK to experience these celebrated new releases.Â
Cinema has the power to transport us beyond our immediate circumstances, even for a couple of hours. Through this wonderful partnership with the BFI London Film Festival, Lionsgate, Netflix and StudioCanal, our audiences can enjoy the excitement of seeing some of the year's most talked-about films before their official release, bringing an extra sense of occasion and helping patients feel connected to the world beyond the hospital walls.
Mary Blake, Operations Manager, MediCinema
The screenings will take place throughout Festival week in October at participating MediCinema locations, bringing the magic of the Festival experience to those who may otherwise be unable to attend.Â
