Meet our 2026 London Marathon Runners: Hannah

With the iconic 2026 TCS London Marathon fast approaching, we’re proud to be supported by a dedicated team of runners taking on the challenge for MediCinema.
Hannah is a Nurse at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, the site of our pop-up MediCinema. She is also a MediCinema Nurse supporting patients at screenings, giving them and their family members the peace of mind and reassurance that they will remain looked after during the film. This year she is going that extra mile (or 26.2!) for our charity, joining Team MediCinema at the start line on Sunday 26 April.
What inspired you to take on the 2026 TCS London Marathon as part of the MediCinema team?
Working as a Nurse at St Thomas hospital and at MediCinema, I have seen first-hand just how difficult hospital life can be not only for patients, but for their families too. In the middle of illness, uncertainty and long days on the ward, it’s often the smallest moments that mean the most. MediCinema offers patients and their loved ones a vital escape from the wards. Bringing patients a moment of joy when they need it most.
Witnessing that difference is what has inspired me to take on this run in support of such an important cause. I’m running for my patients to give them those moments of escape and normality!
How have you been preparing for the race, and what’s been the biggest challenge so far?
Training for the marathon alongside working 12.5-hour shifts and night duty has meant squeezing runs in pre or post night shift and around my ever-changing schedule. The use of the ‘Runna’ app has been really useful at keeping me on track and ensuring I stick to my training plan!
The biggest challenge has been staying consistent around shift work. Some days it has been hard to find the energy, but knowing I’m running for my patients and for MediCinema has kept me going and makes it all feel worthwhile.
Tell us about your favourite moment or run so far whilst training/fundraising for the challenge.
My favourite moment during my runs has been that it has pushed me to explore new running routes/parks in London. My go to 5km route is from my flat to Tower Bridge which always feels iconic and I always picture myself on marathon day running across it. Running the London Marathon has been a dream of mine for many years so I’m so excited to make this dream a reality on Sunday!
Me and my flat mates also did a car boat, this was a fun way decluttering our flat and boosting funds for MediCinema. Alongside this, I also sold some of my old clothes on Vinted, helping to boost my funds further.
Is there anything else you’d like to add about your challenge?
I would like to say I am so grateful to everyone who has donated and supported me and my fundraising for MediCinema. Here’s to Sunday 26th April and Team MediCinema!
