Shaun The Sheep Transports Patients Out Of This World

11th Oct 2019

This week, patients at St Thomas’ Hospital in London and the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow were swept away to another galaxy with Shaun the Sheep at an exciting preview screening of his new film Farmageddon.

Before the special screening, patients at St Thomas’ met Shaun and Bitzer, and patients at both MediCinemas received a special Shaun the Sheep goody bag and balloon art made by a balloon artist, making the afternoon memorable for everyone and celebrating an extremely exciting and magical experience.

A film is just the best thing to take my mind off what we’re dealing with and what Molly is going through. She loves it too. It's such a great distraction from the everyday. The happiness here is just so infectious it’s so nice to not be in a medical environment it feels like a night out. Anything to break the monotony and day-to-day is just amazing you’re just going through the motions and this breaks it up. She LOVES Shaun the Sheep, she usually watches it every night so this is extra special.

The screening was made possible with the special support of StudioCanal and Aardman. Anna Marsh, Managing Director of StudioCanal UK, explained: “StudioCanal UK has proudly supported MediCinema for many years. It means a lot to now partner with them on A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon; it’s a film guaranteed to bring joy to patients and families in the coming weeks. As an industry it’s a privilege to make a small difference and the work that MediCinema continues to do reminds us all just how magical cinema can be.”
