Team MediCinema Raises More Than £18,000 in London to Brighton Cycle Ride
The London to Brighton Cycle Ride is one of our favourite challenge events at MediCinema, and this year’s ride was no exception.
On Sunday 13 September, an incredible team of 25 riders completed the iconic 55-mile route, raising more than £18,000 to help bring the therapeutic power of cinema to children and families in hospital.
A diverse mix of supporters pulled on the MediCinema cycling jersey with this year’s team featuring colleagues from valued partners PIC, The Walt Disney Company and The Ashford Cinema, alongside dedicated MediCinema volunteers and individual supporters who were inspired to take on the challenge for our cause.

Meet the Riders
Ahead of the ride, it was a pleasure to welcome members of the Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC) team to our MediCinema at Guy’s Hospital, giving them a small taste of the escapism, joy and shared experiences their fundraising will help make possible for patients and families.

Among those taking part was Sophie Ricaldi from The Walt Disney Company, who said:
I have always loved going to the movie theatre. Having the chance to forget the world for a couple of hours, just relax and be drawn into another world, another time and place. When I heard about MediCinema, I knew this was the charity I wanted to help and raise money for. Thinking that ill children will have a chance to be taken away from all their pain and suffering, even if only for a little bit, warms my heart. I hope that, although only small, my contribution will help bring a smile to someone's face.

Fellow rider Cameron Lincoln, a filmmaker and cinema enthusiast, also shared why he chose to support MediCinema, riding alongside his mum:
I have a deep respect for the services this charity provides for those who are unable to leave the hospital to go enjoy the cinema. I understand the escape and joy that the cinema can provide and am always happy to find and support ways to make it accessible to everyone. The cinema is more than just a place to go watch films. It is an escape from the harsh realities of life, a place where experiences are shared and memories are made.

Every one of our riders was greeted at the finish line by our MediCinema cheer team. Kristy Brown, Fundraising Coordinator, and chief organiser of this year’s cycling teams said of the event:
We are so grateful to and proud of all 25 of our amazing riders who took on this huge challenge for MediCinema. Their dedication to the ride and their fundraising has been inspiring, and getting to thank them all in person at the Finish line in Brighton was so special. Their outstanding support and fundraising will help us continue to bring relief and escape to NHS patients and their families through the power of cinema
